Background
Mary-Jo and Esther met as graphic design graduate students at Rhode Island School of Design. Their backgrounds in liberal arts inform a design approach that considers how content is experienced culturally, visually, and verbally.
Mary-Jo Valentino has worked for over fifteen years in media development and design, with experience in web, radio and print environments. She holds a BA in English from Princeton University and an MFA in Graphic Design from Rhode Island School of Design. She has taught graphic design history and sustainable systems at Parsons The New School for Design.
Esther Chak has been practicing design for over fifteen years. She holds a BA in Cultural Anthropology from Columbia University and an MFA in Graphic Design from Rhode Island School of Design. She has taught design studios at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and University of Hawaii at Manoa. Her design work has been recognized by AIGA, Print Magazine, and Chicago Design Archive, among others.
