Staten Island Museum
“Breakdown” exhibit and branding
The visual identity for Breakdown: The Promise of Decay, an art and science exhibition at Staten Island Museum, explores the potential beauty in the life cycle of waste. The logo design draws on the concept of time passing, and acknowledges Staten Island’s Fresh Kills Park, which was formerly a landfill. Pops of bright color emerge from dark backgrounds like possibilities, and assemblages of square and rounded letterforms in the typography reinforce themes of the curious and unexpected.
We developed the exhibit logo and visual identity system, wall and exterior signage, and a printed postcard.
